Films and availability
Fiona and colleagues have made nineteen short and long form documentaries since 2013. Ten were commissioned productions. Screenings have been on ABC, SBS, regional festivals and to local groups. Film-makers David Nixon, David Wells (Prevailing Wind Productions), Rebel Films, Central Australian Media Association (CAAMA) and others have collaborated with Fiona. Some films are available for public screenings. In 2018 Jaralji Films is in development by David Nixon and Fiona Walsh. Selected recent films include:
Waru: Burning, bush fires and bush tucker
For Martu, fire comes from Jukurrpa - those characters and events that created country, it’s past and present. Fire is a life force, a tool with many benefits and dangers. Now, wildfires are eating the lands far from where Martu live and can burn. Martu ask - What can we learn from old Martu people? What can the country teach us?
